DIY Crop Top + Circle Skirt

As you all can see I’m super excited because I am 38 years old today! I wasn’t sure if I was going to have a blog post ready today because of pictures but I remembered that I hadn’t tested out my Pro Series 50” Tripod properly. I took a couple of shots with it but I was just making sure it worked.  Well I pulled that baby out yesterday, took some photos and I absolutely love it! Now I don’t have to make my niece come over and walk down my stairs, especially since she is nine months pregnant! I will give full details on the tripod in a future post.

This outfit is a DIY Crop Top and Circle skirt inspired by Mimi G. I used an embellished scuba knit I found at Hancock Fabrics from the spot on the bolt table. The detail on this fabric is gorgeous!

The Crop Top is Mimi G’s Simplicity 1283 pattern.  I omitted the turtle neck as well as the sleeves for this pattern because I wanted to be able to wear it in the summer months. I don’t like to show too much skin, that is why I opted to make the crop top longer than the pattern suggested. You can find the tutorial for the Crop Top here.

For the Circle Skirt I used Mimi G’s Free DIY Tutorial on YouTube. The circle skirt was super easy to make and she gives you detailed step by step instructions. I love this skirt because you can make it as long or short as you want it. I should have made it a little shorter for a flirtier look but I can change that later. I also took pictures as I was making this skirt, I will do a blog post on that in the future as well.

Both pieces are great beginner projects and I loved how you can make them to fit your own personal style. Well I’m off to run errands and then back to work! I know it sucks I have to work on my birthday day; it should be a national holiday! LOL! See you later!
