Vogue 8930

Hello All! I hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday! I always enjoy this time of year because I get to spend quality time with my family. Nothing exciting happens; we just sit around eating and watching football.

This is Vogue 8930, I have made this in several different colors and different fabrics. My first couple of attempts, I made with fleece but they felt really big and bulky to me. I gave the brown one to my niece and my bestie requested the green one.

I followed Mimi G’s DIY Blanket Coat Sew Along to make this coat.  It was my first time sewing a coat with a lining so I was thankful for the video.  I highly recommend this pattern and the tutorial; it is a great beginner project!

For my most recent version of this coat, I used a grey Ponte knit fabric from Fine Fabrics. This knit has the right amount of weight and stretch, and I am very pleased with the results. I’m also in love with this lining!

The dress is McCall’s 6886 and the shoes are Vince Camuto. Unfortunately, the shoes are no longer available. You can check out my previous post on McCall’s 6886 here.

  1. Just lovely! I love how different fabrics can change the look so much. Those shawl collars are quite popular too now.
